Obosa Akpata is a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria with over 30 years’ experience in corporate and commercial law, arbitration and commercial dispute resolution. She possesses strong expertise in the Nigerian regulatory environment, corporate governance, employment law, contract negotiation and documentation, and regulatory compliance with a consistent track record of applying sound judgment and negotiation skills to advance client and business objectives.

Obosa holds an LL.B from Bendel State University (now Ambrose Alli University) and an LL.M from the University of London, UK and has led corporate, transactional and dispute resolution mandates for over two decades. She is widely recognised for her specialisation in arbitration, and in labour and employment law representing clients both locally and internationally.

A Chartered Arbitrator of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), Obosa serves on the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Branch (currently 2nd Vice-Chair) and is an approved Tutor and Assessor with international training experience across Africa. She is actively involved in arbitration and mediation practice sitting as sole arbitrator, chair, and party-appointed arbitrator in institutional and ad hoc proceedings and is listed on the panels of leading arbitration and mediation centres in Nigeria and internationally.

Obosa maintains extensive professional affiliations, including membership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), African Arbitration Association (AfAA), and other specialist institutes. She has published and presented widely on arbitration and ADR and is the Co-Author of “The Nigerian Arbitration Law in Focus”, published in 2019.
