A New Dawn in Cricket History in Nigeria

Girls Cricket has received a major boost in Nigeria as PATRELI PARTNERS sponsored the maiden edition of the Secondary Schools Girls Cricket in Edo State. The colourful event which saw five (5) participating schools remains the first ever Secondary Schools Girls Cricket in Nigeria.

The schools are: Idia College; Glorious Crown Secondary Schools and Scholars imperial College from Benin City. Others are Ambrose Alli University Secondary School and Ujoelen Grammar School from Ekpoma.

The group stages of the competition took place in two venues (Benin city and Ekpoma) and at the end of which a selected side from schools in Ekpoma and a selected side from schools in Benin City locked horns at the Edo Boys High School Cricket Oval on the 26th day of May, 2018 as a special feature of the maiden edition of the competition which saw the selected side from Benin carry the day.

High point of the event was the presentation of medals, trophies and awards to deserving players. Favour Eseigbe of Ujoelen Grammar School emerged the best batter with a total of 37 runs while Endurance Omokaro emerged as the best bowler with a total of 4 wickets amongst others. Girls Coaches in Benin City and Ekpoma were both given full kit bags so as to drive the development of grassroot cricket for girls in Edo State.IMG-20180527-WA0002
